Police investigate park assault on girl, 8, in Bulwell

An eight-year-old girl has been assaulted in parkland in Nottingham.

The attack happened at about 1830 GMT on Tuesday off Hoewood Road, in Bulwell.

Police said the victim was walking along Commercial Road when she was led away by her attacker to the nearby parkland.

She suffered bruising and was left deeply upset as a result of the attack. Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

'Sense of shock'

Ch Insp Matt McFarlane said: "We know that news of this assault will cause concern in the community and people will share my sense of shock that a child of this age could be hurt.

"The best way of channelling any shock local people may feel is to work with the police and provide any information that may help identify this man."

Detectives are looking for a white man in his late teens or early 20s and of medium build.

He wore a grey hooded top and grey trousers.
