Nottingham police step up patrols after attack on girl

Police are carrying out extra patrols after an eight-year-old girl was attacked by a man in Nottingham.

The girl was badly bruised and shocked after the attack on Tuesday evening in Bulwell.

Det Supt Adrian Pearson said the girl was approached by her attacker at 1830 GMT and led to a secluded area in Pulley Park.

She told police the man was white, about 5ft 9ins tall, of medium build, and in his late teens or early 20s.

Family counselling

The girl was able to get away from her attacker and raise the alarm.

She said he was wearing a grey hooded top and grey tracksuit bottoms.

Det Supt Pearson said: "From the route he took, we believe the attacker knows the area and may live nearby. People who live locally could hold the key to who did this, and they may have information that they have not yet passed on to police."

"The girl and her family are being provided with constant support by officers and additional patrols are being mounted by police to reassure local people."
