Ambulance driver faces drink charge over Notts crash

An ambulance driver has been charged with driving while over the alcohol limit after he was involved in a seven-vehicle crash while on a 999 call.

Four people suffered minor injuries in the collision on the A52 near Bardills Island, Nottingham, on 23 October.

Robert Else, from Stapleford, has been charged with driving with excess alcohol.

The 39-year-old is due to appear before magistrates in Nottingham on 9 December.

East Midlands Ambulance Service has confirmed Mr Else resigned with immediate effect at a disciplinary hearing held after the accident.

The vehicle was not carrying a patient at the time of the incident.
