Pedestrian dies following pile-up on the A1 at Ranby

A pedestrian was killed when he was hit by several cars on a Nottinghamshire main road.

The collision happened on the northbound carriageway of the A1 at Ranby at about 1730 GMT on Monday.

The man, whose identity has not yet been released, was walking in the central reservation before being hit by several vehicles, police said.

The road was closed for several hours between Five Lane Ends and Blyth to allow for police investigation.
