Murder victim from Basford 'died of head wounds'

Detectives probing the murder of a man in Nottingham have discovered he died from sharp blows to the head.

Steven Paul Shaw, 32, of Roman Drive, Basford, was found injured at Morrell Bank in Bestwood early on Thursday and was dead on arrival at hospital.

Three men, aged 20, 24 and 32, and a woman, 31, are still in custody.

Post-mortem tests showed he died from head injuries and officers want to speak to anyone who saw a silver car leaving Morrell Bank.

Det Ch Insp Tony Heydon said: "This is a murder inquiry and we have people in custody assisting us with our investigation.

"We have also been conducting house-to-house inquiries and searches of the area, as well as a forensic examination of the property where the deceased was found. That work is likely to continue for several days."

He added that detectives believed a silver car seen leaving the area early on Thursday may linked to what happened.

Four people arrested in connection with Mr Shaw's death are due to be questioned further by detectives.
