Cannabis plants operation uncovered in Eastwood

Cannabis with an estimated street value of more than £700,000 has been found after a police raid in Nottinghamshire.

Officers searched an industrial unit in Giltbrook, Eastwood, on Saturday evening after a tip-off that drugs were being grown there.

They found about 1,700 plants, together with specialist growing equipment including high-intensity lighting. Nobody was in the building at the time.

Police said the plants would now be destroyed.

The raid was carried out as part of Operation Vanguard, a crackdown on supply and distribution of illegal drugs and associated organised crime.
