Eastwood man admits police helicopter laser pen offence

A man has pleaded guilty to shining a laser pen at a police helicopter as it flew over Nottinghamshire.

Nottingham magistrates heard Andrew Green used the device when officers were hunting a burglar in Eastwood.

Admitting a charge of shining a light at an aircraft in flight to dazzle or distract the pilot, Green said his actions of 14 April were "reckless".

Green, 37, of Pickering Avenue, Eastwood, was ordered to pay a total of £300, including costs.

The aircraft is jointly owned and operated by Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire forces.
