Murder investigation after Mansfield attack man dies

A murder investigation has started after the death of a man who was attacked outside a Nottinghamshire pub.

Jonathan Turner, 27, from Forest Town in Mansfield, was assaulted outside The Social in Stockwell Gate in the town at about 0400 BST on Saturday.

He was taken to King's Mill Hospital with head injuries but died on Sunday morning.

Two 22-year-old men remain in custody and are being questioned. A third man was released without charge.

Officers said Mr Turner's parents were with their son at his hospital bedside when he died.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out later.
