Teenagers charged over Beeston street robbery

Two 17-year-olds have been charged after a 73-year-old Nottingham man was robbed of loose change at knifepoint.

The victim was walking along Peveril Road, Beeston, on Saturday night when he was approached by two boys who threatened him and demanded money.

The man handed over about £3 in coins and the youths then fled.

This followed an earlier incident when two 47-year-old men were approached by two youths in Devonshire Avenue, in the town.

They were also threatened and told to hand over money, but the youths fled empty-handed.

The two 17-year-olds from Beeston were charged with two counts of attempted robbery, one count of robbery, and one count of possession of a bladed article.

They were released on police bail and are due to appear at Nottingham Youth Court on 26 May.
