Injured woman dies after M1 crash in Nottinghamshire

A 37-year-old York woman involved in a crash on the M1 in the East Midlands has died.

Heather Hardcastle was a passenger in a car which collided with a lorry between junction 25 and 26 of the M1 at 2315 BST on Thursday.

The male driver of the Audi car remains in critical condition in the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham.

Police want to speak to the drivers of three vehicles who stopped on the hard shoulder to offer assistance.

The lorry driver was not injured in the accident.
