Drugs worth £2m found in Broxtowe and Aspley

More than £2m of illegal drugs have been seized in two Nottingham suburbs in the past year-and-a-half.

Police launched a crackdown on cannabis, heroin, cocaine and amphetamine dealers in Broxtowe and Aspley after concerns from residents.

As part of the operation - named Barnstormer - 39 weapons, including knives and a crossbow, were found.

More than 190 people have also been arrested since the campaign began in October 2009.

Sgt Ian Cresswell said: "Seizing more than £2m in drugs shows we are targeting the right people.

"We do a lot of follow-up activity after executing a warrant to inform residents about what has happened."

Police said the operation had helped reduce burglary, robbery and vehicle theft in the Aspley area.
