Teenager sexually assaulted in Mansfield

A 17-year-old girl has been the victim of a serious sexual assault as she walked through an industrial estate in Nottinghamshire.

The teenager was taking a short cut through Crown Farm estate in Mansfield on Thursday afternoon when she was attacked.

Police said a number of officers were deployed to the scene and the force helicopter carried out a search.

The area remained cordoned overnight off for forensic examination.

The teenager is currently being supported by specially trained police officers.

The victim described the offender as white, about 16 years old, about 5ft 6in (1.68m) tall, with blonde curly or wavy short hair, of slim build, and wearing black clothing and carrying a black school type bag.

Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone who saw someone of the suspect's description in an agitated state.
