Four houses damaged in Nottinghamshire fire

Four houses in a Nottinghamshire town have been severely damaged by a fire.

Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire on Wolsey Road in Newark late on Friday night.

Four fire crews tackled the fire for almost four hours using an aerial ladder, a Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said.

No-one was injured in the fire, but two of the houses have been cordoned off and declared unsafe by Newark and Sherwood District Council.

Structural engineers are at the scene examining the damaged houses, the fire service spokesman said.
