A man has pleaded guilty to attempting to rape a 10-year-old boy in Nottinghamshire woodland.

Shaun Edward Tudor, 43, of no fixed abode, appeared at Nottingham Crown Court via video link.

He also pleaded guilty to sexually touching the boy on 20 July, near Third Avenue in Rainworth.

Tudor, who has Aspergers and learning difficulties, has been under hospital orders since 1988 when he assaulted a boy in Birmingham, the court heard.

The court was told how Tudor had been in the mental health system for more than 20 years, including two spells at Rampton Secure Hospital in Nottinghamshire.

Eight months ago he was moved to specialist mental health unit St Andrew's, on Sherwood Oaks Business Park, in Mansfield.

Sentencing was adjourned until 30 September pending psychiatric reports.
