Group sought over serious assault in Carlton

A group of up to seven people is being sought by police over a serious assault in Nottingham.

A 24-year-old man suffered facial and head injuries an unprovoked attack in Dale Road, Carlton at about 22:30 BST on Monday.

The victim is in a stable condition at the city's Queen's Medical Centre. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Police believe a blunt instrument was used during the attack.

It is thought five males and two females, aged in their teens, were involved in the incident.

The man had just got off a bus from Nottingham city centre when he was asked for a cigarette by one of the group and assaulted.

Officers have appealed for witnesses or anyone with further information to come forward.
