Train services through Nottingham have been badly disrupted by signal problems.

East Midlands Trains, Northern Rail and Crosscountry services were affected by the issue, which began at 08:55 BST.

Routes to Luton Airport Parkway and Skegness were among those which saw delays of about 60 minutes. Long queues were reported at several stations.

The problem was fixed just after 11:00 BST but knock-on delays are likely to cause problems for some time.

Some services started and ended at East Midlands Parkway with a shuttle bus taking passengers to and from Nottingham.

The issue also caused problems at level crossings, with warning lights in operation but barriers up. Network Rail said there were no safety issues as no trains were running.
