Caroline Coyne killing: Man appears in court

A man has appeared in court accused of the murder of a mother-of-two from Nottingham.

Carl Powell, 23, from Carlton, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court charged with the murder of Caroline Coyne.

Ms Coyne, 26, was found dead in Thorneywood Mount on 23 July.

Mr Powell spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth and was remanded in custody to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday.

No application for bail was made.

At the court, Mr Powell denied a charge of sexual assault and another of common assault with intent to commit sexual assault on 24 August. These will be dealt with at a court hearing on 5 September.
