Body of man discovered in Nottingham canal

A man's body has been found in a canal in Nottingham.

A passer by called police after the discovery in a canal close to the Navigation pub on Wilford Street, near the Meadows, at about 06:30 BST.

A Nottinghamshire Police search team recovered the body of a man from Lenton who was in his 50s.

Police are not treating the death as suspicious. They have identified the man, but have not released his name at the request of his family.

Part of the canal towpath near the Gala Coral headquarters was cordoned off during the police investigation.
