Signal work closes Nottinghamshire's Robin Hood Line

A Nottinghamshire railway route is closed as part of a £6m project to improve signalling.

Buses will replace rail services on the Robin Hood Line between Nottingham and Worksop on Saturday and Sunday.

Network Rail said the new equipment will allow the railway between north Nottingham and Shirebrook to be controlled from a single desk in Derby.

The work has taken several months to complete and will be tested by engineers on Saturday and Sunday.

Martin Frobisher, route director for Network Rail, said: "This project is part of a much wider scheme to deliver a modern, efficient railway in the East Midlands.

"Everything possible is being done to keep disruption to a minimum and I want to thank people for their patience while we complete this improvement work."
