University of Nottingham in £150m fundraising bid
The University of Nottingham has launched a search for philanthropists in a bid to raise £150m for research projects.
Developments in health and making the university accessible to people from all backgrounds are among the areas funding is being sought for.
The university said it was not a bid to replace any gaps in public funding.
The vice-chancellor, Prof David Greenaway, said "philanthropic roots nourish the university's growth".
Prof Greenaway said: "Across the world universities have only been able to flourish due to the visionary actions of philanthropists over hundreds of years.
"Such investment has allowed independence of thought and action by scholars and students to tackle society's most pressing issues."
