A woman was sexually assaulted by a man who forced his way in as she returned to her Nottingham home.

The 21-year-old victim was attacked in the early hours of 19 October by the intruder who fled from North Sherwood Street towards Colville Terrace.

Police say the suspect is black, aged in his late 20s or early 30s and about 5ft 8ins (1.73m) tall.

He was wearing a black woollen cap, black coat, dark top and trousers.

Det Ch Insp Rob Griffin said: "This is a very worrying opportunistic attack on a young woman by a determined offender who clearly had a sexual motive.

"We would, therefore, urge anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the North Sherwood Street area shortly after midnight on Wednesday to let us know immediately."
