A police pursuit of a stolen car before a fatal crash in Nottinghamshire is being investigated by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).

Dale Wilson, 26, from Aspley, died after the Vauxhall Corsa he was driving left the road in Calverton and hit a tree on 14 November.

Three police cars were involved in the pursuit of the vehicle before the crash, the IPCC said.

No-one else was hurt in the incident on Moor Lane.

IPCC Commissioner Amerdeep Somal said: "This was a fluid situation that developed rapidly over a matter of a few minutes from the time police initially spotted the stolen vehicle.

"While it appears at this stage that appropriate authority was gained for the pursuit, it is right where a fatality has occurred that we verify that Nottinghamshire Police officers followed all relevant procedures," she said.
