Woman stable after Nottingham recreation ground attack

A 22-year-old woman who suffered serious facial injuries in an attack in Nottingham is in a stable condition in hospital.

Police said the woman was "subjected to a violent sexual assault" at Forest Recreation Ground as she walked home alone in the early hours of Saturday.

The woman had to have facial surgery at Queen's Medical Centre on Sunday.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested and police have been granted further time to question him.

A cordon put in place at the scene has been removed, but house-to-house inquiries continue in the area.

Police want to speak to anyone who witnessed the assault or saw anyone in the area who may have been connected to the incident.
