Nottingham teenager jailed for knifepoint double rape

A 17-year-old has been jailed for nine years after raping two teenage girls at knifepoint in his Nottingham flat.

The city's Crown Court heard the youth, who cannot be identified because of his age, attacked the 15-year-olds on 3 September.

He admitted three counts of rape and one of actual bodily harm and will be placed on the sex offenders register for life.

Police said the offender had put his victims through a "horrific ordeal".

'Admirable courage'

On release, he will be the subject of an extended licence for five years, where he will be monitored by police and probation.

Det Con Gary Dodd, who led the investigation, said the case was one of the most difficult he had dealt with in his 22-year career.

"The girls were absolutely terrified. I have interviewed hundreds of criminals and sex offenders in my police career, and the interview with this offender was possibly the most difficult.

"It was hard to listen to him talk openly in detail about what he had done to them.

"They were put through a horrific ordeal and have dealt with the nightmare with admirable courage.

"They are still coming to terms with what happened but I hope that their attacker's conviction offers them at least some comfort and closure."

The sentencing took place on 20 January.
