Thousands of cannabis plants seized in Newark raids

Police have seized about 3,000 cannabis plants with a street value of £1.5m from two industrial units.

The plants were found during a raid by Revenue and Customs officers at an address in Manners Road in Newark, Nottinghamshire, on Wednesday.

Nottinghamshire Police Inspector Andy Gan said: "This was a professional set up which involved the use of specialist and high-tech equipment."

No arrests have been made, a police spokesman said.

The police investigation is continuing and officers have been carrying out house-to-house inquiries.
