Adrian Mole author Sue Townsend laments loss of eyesight

Adrian Mole author Sue Townsend says she has still not come to terms with losing her eyesight.

The writer, from Leicester, gave a talk to a visually impaired reading group at Mansfield Library in Nottinghamshire as part of a campaign to secure more reading facilities for people with eye problems.

Townsend, who went blind in 2001 due to a condition called diabetic retinopathy, told the group: "You can't underestimate what a devastating blow it is."
