A 25-year-old man has been jailed for killing another man in a fight outside a house in Nottingham.

Aaron Barrett punched Shane Lee on Hallam's Lane in Arnold, on 7 August 2011.

Mr Lee, 27, from Sherwood, hit his head on the ground and died later at the Queen's Medical Centre.

Barrett, of Calverton, was convicted of manslaughter after a trial at Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday, and sentenced to six years in prison.

Det Insp Karen Pearson from Nottinghamshire Police said: "Shane Lee's death and the subsequent conviction of Aaron Barrett illustrates the tragic consequences that can result from the throwing of a punch.

"There is simply no good reason for getting involved in a fight, but all too often young men in particular, end up in that situation.

"Three young men, including Shane, lost their lives in Nottinghamshire last year as a result of being punched."
