New £5m Nottinghamshire school set for official opening
A new Nottinghamshire primary school which cost £5m to build is to be officially opened.
Springbank Primary School, in Eastwood, has a capacity for 210 four to 11-year-olds and 26 pre-school pupils.
The students, who started at the building in January, have come from the Eastwood infant and junior schools.
Head teacher Julie Vaccari said the school had been designed to help strengthen the talents and skills of the children.
Nottinghamshire County Council chairman Carol Pepper is due to unveil a plaque at about 10:40 BST.
She said: "We first acquired the site for this new school nearly 40 years ago, so it's with great pleasure that we're able to mark the opening of this state of the art building."
The new school features a pond, a playing field, which the 100-year-old former schools never had, and there is also a forest area for campfires, woodcraft and orienteering.
Classrooms have been equipped with large touch screens, replacing interactive white boards.
