New jobs at Nottingham call centre Domestic and General

An appliance call centre firm is hiring 250 staff in Nottingham due to increased demand for warranties.

Domestic and General is taking on 90 full-time workers at its Talbot Street office where it also expects to hire an additional 160 contract workers.

Growth in queries from people buying appliances is driving the call centre expansion, a spokesman said.

The firm handles calls for appliance manufacturers and is a contact centre for satellite TV firm Sky.

A firm spokesman said the downturn had boosted business because people were more cautious about their money and wanted to look after their appliances.

Domestic and General takes on new staff during July and August so they can be trained and in place for the pre-Christmas rush.

The firm has operated a call centre in Nottingham for 15 years.
