Two die in car fire after crash in Nottinghamshire

Two people have been killed after their car caught fire in a crash involving another car and a motorcycle near a Nottinghamshire village.

The collision happened at about 17:45 BST on Tuesday on Rufford Lane, near the A616 in Wellow.

The motorcyclist and his passenger, both aged 19 and male, were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The 39-year-old male driver of the other car was treated for minor injuries.

After the three-vehicle crash one of the cars caught fire. Emergency services pronounced the two people in the car dead at the scene.

A section of the road reopened after being closed for more than nine hours while it was cleared and officers carried out investigations.

Nottinghamshire Police, which is appealing for witnesses to contact them, said more details about the crash are yet to be announced.
