M1 lorry crash causes Leicestershire delays

Motorists faced severe delays for more than five hours on the M1 in Leicestershire following a crash.

A stretch of motorway between junctions 22 and 21A was closed after a lorry crossed the central reservation on Thursday morning.

A spokesman for Leicestershire Police said both southbound and northbound carriageways had one lane closed.

The Highways Agency said there were severe delays but the motorway had since fully reopened.
