Boy, 10, dies after being hit by car in Newark

A 10-year-old boy who was hit by a car in a Nottinghamshire town has died in hospital.

Deividas Jucys suffered head injuries in the collision, which happened in Friary Road, Newark, at about 17:00 BST on Saturday.

He was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham but died in the early hours of Monday, police said.

Officers said he was hit by a silver Jeep Cherokee and have asked anyone with information to get in touch.

Police said Deividas' family were being supported by specially trained officers.
