Doctors treating a six-year-old boy injured in a Nottingham shop have woken him from a medically induced coma.

Ryan Hooley suffered serious head injuries when he fell from the top of an escalator in clothing store Primark on Wednesday.

He is still in intensive care in a critical but stable condition.

Primark said the safety of its customers was of paramount concern and it was working with the relevant authorities to investigate.

City council safety officers have begun an investigation into the circumstances of the accident at the store in Long Row.
