A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing outside a bar in Nottingham.

A 25-year-old man was stabbed during a fight outside Coco Lounge in George Street at about 01:10 GMT on Sunday.

He is stable in hospital and showing signs of improvement, police said.

They believe the stabbing was "an isolated, spontaneous incident between people that may know one another", and are appealing for witnesses.

Ch Insp James West said: "A number of people were at the Coco Lounge and in George Street at the time of the attack and we have yet to hear from them.

"There is no reason for someone to be carrying a knife while out in the community, and especially not while in the city centre."
