Husband charged over wife's death at Maplebeck farm

A 71-year-old man has been charged with murder after the death of his wife at their Nottinghamshire farm.

Julia Thurgarland, 70, was discovered at Low Farm in Maplebeck on 28 December. A post-mortem examination found she had been strangled.

Her husband, Peter Thurgarland, who was found injured at the scene, was arrested and taken to Lincoln County Hospital for treatment.

He is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Friday.
