Maplebeck farm death: Husband unfit for wife's murder trial
A judge has ruled that a man accused of strangling his wife at their home in Nottinghamshire is unfit to plead or stand trial.
Peter Thurgarland, 71, is charged with murdering his 70-year-old wife Julia at their farmhouse in Maplebeck.
Nottingham Crown Court heard he was suffering from severe depression and psychotic episodes.
A hearing will be held on 13 May in front of a jury to determine whether or not he killed his wife.
Post-mortem tests revealed Julia Thurgarland, a church warden, died from strangulation. Her body was found by paramedics on 28 December.
