Colwick Park Lifeguards appeal over stolen lifeboat
Volunteer lifeguards are asking people to report any sightings of a "bright orange" lifeboat stolen in Nottingham.
Colwick Park lifeguards said events they help at could be cancelled if the lifeboat is not returned.
The thieves broke into a storage unit on Saturday night or Sunday morning, also damaging other boats and stealing equipment including radios and engines.
The organisation said the 6m (20ft) boat would have "stood out somewhat" as it was driven around streets.
Secretary Mark Smith said: "This is going to be a big problem for us because we have our biggest event of the spring coming up, Head of the Trent in Nottingham.
"I'm quite shocked actually that anybody, particularly when we are constantly seeing in the media all the floods that are happening around the country, and the use of vessels like this, I'm stunned that anybody would think it is in any way acceptable to steal a lifeboat."
Head of the Trent, held on 2 March this year, is a rowing race along the River Trent and is run by the Nottingham Regatta Committee.
Nottinghamshire Police has asked anyone with information about the theft and damage to contact them or Crimestoppers.
