Worksop double murder suspect arrested

A murder inquiry has begun after the bodies of two people were found at a house in Nottinghamshire.

Police were called to Hardwick Road East in Worksop where the bodies of a man and a woman were discovered.

A 28-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently receiving treatment in hospital.

Post-mortem examinations are taking place on the bodies of the victims and they are expected to be named shortly, a police spokesman said.

Inspector Phil Davies, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "I would like to reassure the community that incidents of this nature are very rare.

"This was an isolated incident and we have made an arrest.

"House to house enquiries and patrols will be continuing in the area to reassure residents."
