Nottinghamshire Police probe farm piglet theft

Piglets Police said 50 piglets were taken in the raid at the farm in Bilsthorpe

Two pigs have been slaughtered and 50 piglets stolen from a field in Nottinghamshire.

Police were called to a farm in Bilsthorpe after the discovery was made at about 07:00 BST on Friday.

One of the sows had been left butchered at the scene but the other was taken and carried to the roadside by more than one person, detectives said.

The force appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Offenders broke into the farm near the A614 after removing fencing, between 03:00 and 7:00 on Friday, police said.
