Nottinghamshire A1 crash: Three victims named by police

Three people who died in a crash on the A1 have been named by police.

Leroy and Sheila Carrington, aged 68 and 58, from Killingworth, Tyne and Wear, died at the scene when the Peugeot 206 they were in collided with a Vauxhall Astra on Sunday night.

Roderick Franks, 58, from St Albans, Hertfordshire, who was the passenger in the Astra, died in hospital.

The road was closed in both directions at Ranby, Nottinghamshire, for several hours but has since been reopened.

The 26-year-old driver of the Astra was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham with minor injuries.

Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
