A 47-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering of a seven-year-old girl in Nottingham.

Officers were called to Beckhampton Road, Bestwood Park, on 31 July, after concerns were raised for the girl.

A second suspect - a 23-year-old woman - was arrested on Thursday, also on suspicion of murder, and police have been given more time to question her.

Nottinghamshire Police said formal identification of the girl would take place at a later date.

Tributes, including teddy bears and cards, have been left outside the home.

Bestwood councillor Brian Grocock said the community was in shock.

He said: "Nobody likes to hear of the death of a child - it is devastating."

A post-mortem examination was due to take place on Friday.
