A man has handed himself in to police after a "good Samaritan" was knocked unconscious in a city centre.

Michael Kane was left with a fractured skull and broken jaw after a single punch in Nottingham in March.

Nottinghamshire Police, who said Mr Kane was helping a woman in distress, released CCTV of the attack to BBC East Midlands Today earlier this month.

Mr Kane, who had been visiting the city from Glasgow, told the BBC he did not know why he had been targeted.

The attack happened in front of the Bambuu Bar at about 03:00 GMT on Sunday 1 March.
