A teenage boy has been charged with causing a major fire at a leisure centre undergoing a multi-million pound redevelopment.

Rushcliffe Arena in West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire, was closed when the fire broke out on 13 September, 2015.

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with arson and bailed to appear magistrates in Nottingham on 16 May.

Rushcliffe Borough Council put the cost of repairing the damage at more than £200,000.

The leisure centre remains closed but the new facilities are set to open in January.
