Vandals destroy rugby club trees in Grove

Vandals have caused more than £1,000 of damage after eight Mountain Ash trees in Grove near Wantage were snapped.

The trees, in front of Grove RFC clubhouse, have had to be removed.

Six of them were damaged between Saturday night and Sunday morning, and the other two in the early hours of Tuesday.

Graham Munday, Grove parish clerk, said: "We are absolutely gutted because it is just mindless vandalism."

He added: "This sort of thing should not happen.

"The trees have now been removed as there was no way they could be recovered."

Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
