Robbers target Banbury Co-op with knife and claw hammer

Robbers armed with a claw hammer, kitchen knife and crowbar have robbed a food store in Oxfordshire.

The two men entered the Co-op store in Ferriston, Banbury, on Sunday night.

While one man guarded the door the other threatened staff and made them empty cash from the till. Other people were made to kneel down, police said.

Both men then left the store on foot and made their way through the nearby park in the direction of Ironstones. Nobody was hurt.

Police said one man was described as 5ft 10in tall, of medium build and in his early 20s, while the other was thought to be in his late teens and about 5ft 9in.

Pc Ian Gibbard said: "Thankfully no one was hurt in the incident, though members of staff were left shaken by what happened.

"I would urge anyone with any information about this incident to come forward and speak to me as soon as possible."
