A theatre in Oxford has reopened after a multi-million pound revamp.

Work on the Pegasus Theatre, home to the Oxford Youth Theatre group, started in January 2009 and has finished on time and within its £7m budget.

The revamp has seen a host of new facilities created, including a rehearsal studio and bar.

A series of special performances, events and workshops will take place over the next week to celebrate the completion of the project.

Euton Daley MBE, chief executive and artistic director of the theatre, said: "Although it has seemed a brief period of time in which the theatre has been redeveloped, it has been many years getting to this point.

"I would like to extend my gratitude to the local community, the young people of Pegasus and the funders and donors who have made this wonderful achievement possible."
