Oxford knifeman jailed for student attack
A 22-year-old knife attacker who stabbed a student has been jailed for four years.
Ben Hepburn pleaded guilty to stabbing the 20-year-old victim in Cowley Road, Oxford, during an attack on 14 October.
Hepburn, of Spooner Close, East Oxford, who had become involved with drug dealing, admitted at Oxford Crown Court to causing grievous bodily harm.
The first year student has since recovered from the attack, which police said could have been fatal.
Det Con Rob Barratt, of Thames Valley Police, said: "Hepburn's offence was a very serious one in which the victim could have easily died.
"However, in sentencing him the judge has taken into consideration Hepburn's previous good character, together with the fact that the victim is making a quick and full recovery.
"That said, he is now paying a heavy price for arming himself with a knife after falling into a world of drug dealing."
