Paramedics attend spate of falls due to snow and ice

Paramedics have attended almost 30 emergency calls within 36 hours involving falls due to icy conditions.

South Central Ambulance Service said its crews were called to 27 emergencies in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

However much of Oxfordshire escaped the heavy snowfalls which have caused chaos across parts of southern England, with just one school closed by lunchtime.

Football games to be played on council-managed pitches have been called off this weekend.
