Couple escape unhurt from house in Long Hanborough

A couple escaped uninjured after a fire broke out in their house in Oxfordshire.

Three fire crews were called to Millwood End in Long Hanborough on Saturday afternoon.

They were met with a large fire at the side of the building, with smoke and flames coming out of the door.

Frank Patterson, watch manager, said: "The occupants were extremely lucky to escape without injury as they had to pass the fire to get out."

He said the fire was spreading rapidly to the kitchen and dining room.

Crews from Eynsham, Witney and Oxford attended and tackled the fire using high-pressure hose-reel water jets and teams wearing breathing apparatus.
