Cyclist forced to jump off bike in Oxford police chase

A cyclist had to jump from her bicycle to avoid being hit by a speeding car as it attempted to outrun police.

A VW Golf driver sped from Wellington Square, Oxford, before colliding with another vehicle in St John Street.

A quantity of what is believed to be cannabis was recovered from the scene at 1735 GMT on Friday.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis with intent to supply, dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

Thames Valley Police are keen to trace the woman who witnesses say was forced to jump from her bicycle to avoid being hit by the silver coloured Golf.

The men, aged 25 and 23, were arrested shortly afterwards in Nelson Street and bailed until 26 March.
